connecting to school network

Hello. I am iving in a dorm and all of my other roommates were able to plug
in their windows-based computers to the ethernet connection and have it work
automatically.
When I plug in, my computer says that I am connected at 100mb/s yet I cannot
connect. None of my browsers or other web programs will work through this
connection.

I don't know what to do.
 
Ask your college/dorm IT staff for assistance.
