Connecting to multiple workgroups with laptop

My boyfriend and I (both technogeeks) each have home
networks set up with wireless access points. When he's
at my place, he can authenticate on my network and share
files and printer resources but when he returns home, his
connections to his own network are blown. I have same
problem in reverse. Tried setting up copies of different
network connections with appropriate parameters for each
network, but no go. Am I right to assume that we need to
set up separate hardware profiles for each network
location? I've also tried using a different user profile
to log in on his network, but I lose my workgroup name
each time I come home.

Maybe the solution is to spend more time on romance and
less in front of the laptops . . . but any help would be
appreciated.

Thanks,
Kate M.

No, hardware profiles aren't the answer, because you don't use
different hardware at each location.

There should be no need to change any network settings. Workgroup
names are irrelevant in accessing other computers. Any computer can
access any other computer in any workgroup. The simplest way to
access another computer, regardless of what workgroup either one is
in, is to type the other computer's name in the Start | Run box in
this format:

\\computer

If that doesn't help, please reply to this message in the news group
(not by E-mail) with more information to help other people understand
the problem.

What do you mean by "I lose my workgroup name"? Where are you
looking, and what do you see?

What settings, if any, do you change between the two locations?
