I have a work laptop running Windows 2000 professional and
use it to connect to my home network running Windows XP
Home. We recently implemented active directory at work
and I can no longer get my laptop to use my shared folders
and printer at home.

I get the error message "There are currently no logon
servers available to service the logon request."

My laptop will still use my home shared internet
connection and my home computers can see the shares on the
laptop but not the other way around.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jon

Jon,

the message is normal, as the laptop cannot find the domain
controller.

I had a chat with my network admin at work. Apparently
the switch to active directory is the cause. The solution
he gave me was to create a user account on my home pc
running xp with the same user name and password as my
domain logon at work. That did the trick.

Jon,

thanks for reporting back!

As http://www.michna.com/kb/wxnet.htm should have told you,
there are other ways to achieve the same thing, but creating an
account with the same username and password is the simplest way.
