Connect window

On my old system, I was able to click on an icon on my desktop to get the
dial into the internet Connection box to come up. My new XP system does
nothing when I click on my desktop icon. Instead it has a Network
Connections icon on the Start taskbar and I must first click on that. Then a
Network Connections window comes up where I click on the Connect button. How
do I get rid of the Network Connections window so that all I have to do is
click on the Connect icon that is sitting on my desktop. Thank you.

When the dial-up connection was being made, there should
have been an option to put an icon on the desktop. Go through
the properties tab of the dial-up connection again. If there
isn't any or the checkbox cannot be found, do a drag-and-copy
of the icon in the Network Connections window to the desktop.

I have a desktop icon but when I boot my system it puts the Network
Connections window onto the Start taskbar at the bottom of my computer. So,
when I click on the icon nothing happens. I have to go to the bottom of the
screen and click on the Network Connections window.
