No I don't believe it is. I don't think Nintendo support it.
You may be able to find some kind of "software Access Point" software for
your laptop's wireless chipset and try with that but otherwise I think you
might struggle.
That's an interesting idea. Making an ad-hoc WiFi connection, as described in
the article referenced by Nass, requires you to do several things from the Wii,
as from any computing device.
# Assign itself a fixed IP address.
# Assign itself an SSID.
# Manage an ad-hoc relationship.
So you have the Wii. Does it allow these things?
What do you want to do with a WiFi connection? If you want to connect to the
Internet, you'll have to setup a computer running a router. That will probably
be ICS. Running ICS with ad-hoc WiFi is another experience.
