Connect to Web as alternate user

Using Win XP Pro SP2, signing in as Administrator, all OK when going
on the Internet.

When my son is using a separate logon, he can't connect to the
internet.

What are we missing??

1. Is there an error message?
2. How do you connect to internet, do you have a router or a 'dialup modem'

If it is a dial up modem then it maybe 'dial default connection' is missing.
Open internet, click tools, connections see iff these settings match
yours. If you have a router then something more sinister as the router is
connected all the time.

1.No, there is no error message; just the response on IE7 that no
requested page is responding.
2. The setup is on a router hooked up to an always on high speed cable
modem.

WOW that is confusing.

I am assuming logging in as other user is obtaining ip from router? Many
ways to do this but easiest is START, RUN, CMD click ok

then run IPCONFIG /ALL

hopefully IP address has something other than 0.0.0.0 or 169.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Whilst in this window see if can see the internet by typing.. ping
google.co.uk... see if get replies

Next step is to check IE settings, when in IE, TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS,
CONNECTIONS, LAN SETTINGS, there should be nothing in proxy server. Maybe
check your settings to see if same.

Do you have a third party Security centre? Norton, Mcafee ?

Have you tried setting up another user and see if same issue ?
