Connect to TV

I just brought a NEC versa S3200 laptop with Intel 945GM chip, I can see a
VGA port which I have plugged a adapter to change it to a composite video
port then connect to TV but Windows Vista do not detect the TV and I can only
see black screen.
I also cannot see a multi-display option and can only pick the notebook as
the only display option.
Have been spending hours and follow the procedures. do I need to change the
video card?

Sometimes, with a notebook, the ability to enable the external display is in
the BIOS settings--see your manual on how to access the BIOS settings at
boot.
If so, look for a setting that enables <Both>.
Once the ability is enabled, there may also be a key or key combination on
the keyboard to direct the signal from the VGA port once Windows has loaded.
