Connect home directory to root of the share - Network

Using WinXP in a AD domain I am having trouble mapping root directories to
the root of the network share.

In active directory the home directory is listed as H:
\\server\share\username
I want H: to map to \\server\share thus the home directory will be
H:\username

In Win NT4 this worked well but with Windows 2003 server i is mapping H: to
the userdirectory. There is a group policy that should take care of this but
it doesn't seem to work when I activated it.

Any suggestions?

In a loginscript, use the subst syntax to map root so that the end-user will
see only a drive letter representing the remote share instead of
H:\username. You can use a loginscript in a GPO.

The logon script mapping is being ignored because XP does the mapping by
itself.
I have to manually disconnect from H: then connect to the level that I want.
The problem is that next time I reboot it is remapped, that is why I tried
to use the group policy administrative template but it the setting on the
template are being ignored.

How do I activate a local policy?

Since the machine is part of a domain settings in it's local policy may be
over-ridden by conflicting settings at the site, domain, or OU level. Run
gpresult.exe to confirm what GPO's on the machine are in effect.
