Connect-As to a Network Share

I want to be able to right-click on a network share and
have the option to "Connect As" a different user. Does
anyone know of a reg hack or utility that will add this
funtion to the right-click menu?

Mike,

In windows explorer->Tools->Folder options-> File types->Select drive->
Advanced->new->Type in runas for the name and select the runas.exe for the
executable.
runas.exe should be in winnt\system32.
Try doing a right click on the drives and it shows up.

I followed your instructions and I now have the runas
option on the right-click menu. But I'm not sure this is
exactly what I need. When I tested doing a runas on a
network share, it prompted for new login id and password
(which is what I want) but after I typed it in, it just
flashed a cmd window up (too fast to read) and that was
it. It did not connect to the share like I had hoped. Is
it that the runas command is intended for use when
actually executing a program? I'm really looking more for
a "connect as" type command, which will let me connect to
a share as a different user. Did I do something wrong?

Also, on a side note - when I try to remove the runas
command from "drive" file type, it won't let me. Both the
Edit and Remove buttons are greyed out. I am logged in as
admin. Do you know how I can remove the runas command?

Hi Mike,

To remove the "Runas" command you need to go to the
registry
Open Regedit and go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\Shell
and delete the entry "runas"

Since runas did not work as expected,I will look into
any other way of doing it and will let you know.
