Confused with UAC (User Account Control)... best article I've seen on it yet.

Good find Adam. Thanks

Here's another interesting site some may not know about. The link
below is to the Vista area of the site, but if you back track a bit
you'll find interesting streaming videos on a wider range of topics.

Now a little about the following link. It contains streaming videos,
many taken by Microsoft employees informally interviewing other
Microsoft employees, many giving key insights into how Vista was
developed and a peek under the hood which is a good way to learn some
of the technical aspects and what better source than from the horse's
mouth. Enjoy!

For those that can't get enough about UAC, view the 4th video down in
the second column. Here you'll get to watch an informal interview with
the two principle guys behind UAC, Jon Schwartz the Microsoft UAC
Architect and Chris Corio, UAC's Technical Program Manager. These are
the two guys that cooked it up. If you read between the lines it seems
they wanted to do more... a lot more, especially testing and were kind
of pushed to get it out the door now, at least that's the take I came
away with. My beef isn't with the actual guys that write the code,
rather the suits that pushed them to get it done.

While sometimes boring unless you like tech topics and overly
technical in parts, if you invest the time to watch the whole
interview which runs a little over a hour, (hope you got broadband) it
can be very illuminating. Many of the other linked videos are equally
informative on a wide range of Vista topics.

Julie

There is many posters on these Vista and other newsgroups asking what
UAC is about ,why you need it, why you don't,etc. That article that
Adam posted from the MS TechNet site explains it extremely well. It is
most helpful for people that ask about UAC to read and understand.

There was no mal intent on Adams part for posting that link and as a
matter of fact it was and will be helpful to many.

Although Adam goes off the deep end occasionally he is very
knowledgeable about computers. Just read some of his posts where he is
posting about actual issues and you will see.

I am not defending Adam but when someone is right and posts something
very usefully then answers like what you gave is not warranted

When someone goes off the deep end and instigates a post that causes
many to jump in and attack that is something else. This was not one of
them

Isn't it nice to see actual intelligent exchange every once in a while ?

(Even though it was only 5 or 6 posts between Julie & Adam.)

*Almost* everyone is capable of it, but there are some.........
