Conflicting credentials when trying to join a domain

When I try to join a Windows 2000 Pro computer to a domain
(W2K), I get the error message: Heaking: Network
Identification Message: The following error occurred
attempting to join "domain_name": The credentials supplied
conflict with an existing set of credentials

Any ideas on how to correct the problem?

Sometimes you can bypass it on using "shares" by substituting
an IP for the server NAME.

The other choice is to disconnect (e.g., "net use * /d") from
every share on at least that one machine.

Try net use * /del from a command prompt first.
