Conflict with Zone Alarm Firewall

Ok...I am a newbie to 2000 pro. All my previous experience is with win 98SE.
Clean install of 2000 pro in my home built system.
Asus P4S800 motherboard
P4 2.6mghz HT
512MB ddr400 RAM
80G and 20G HDD's
WIN98SE on master HDD and 2000PRO on slave
Radeon 9200SE 128MB video card
What is happening is after installing WIN 2000 on 20G HDD to use as
second OS my puter freezes up after a few min. Always when trying to
configure Zone Alarm Free ver. 5.5.062.004 all input is completly
frozen and have to hard reboot to get system working again. I installed SP4
from windows update and ended up uninstalling thinking that was the problem (
after installing SP4 puter would freeze up during boot process after post
right before of after logon screen) I am assuming I have a software conflict
and will list antivirus and firewall programs installed at this time..

Zone Alarm version 5.5.062.004
AVG ver 7.0.298 virus database: 265.6.8 release date 1/3/05
Popup Stopper Free Edition ver 3.1.1012

Any ideas as to what I need to be looking at? Having a cable
connection....I hate to leave myself open on the internet by uninstalling my
firewall and antivirus....Has anyone else had this issue and what steps ya
took to fix it?? thanks )

Junk Zone Alarm. Secure you box and you won't need soft firewalls.
Otherwise, I would recommend Tiny Personal Firewall, because it's low
resource.
