I recently networked 3 of my computers using a router and configuring
the network to peer to peer. Two of my computers run Windows XP
Professinal and one runs Windows XP standard. I have one computer (XP
Professional) which I share the files with the other two. The computer
with XP Professional have no problems. The computer with XP Standard
has problems when retriving or opening files from the network. When
trying open a file it will open quickly but then it will immediatly
freeze for a few minutes then go back to normal and let me work on the
file. When I save it does the samething, it will pause for several
minutes. When I check my programs it says "not responding" to the
corresponding application. Is there any settings I should configure to
to make XP standard work? I configured everything using network
wizard.

Hello,

Not sure if this is remotely related, but I found this information helpful a couple years ago with some network delay issues on Win2K machines.
I've never experienced this with Win XP machines.

NOTE that the registry tweak done by the download they offer can be done manually. I'm not comfortable running unknown executables, and I could not find a review of this one on ZDNet, so while it may be safe, use at your own risk.

Same symptom observed running Win2K machines on a Novell network:

Hope this helps.
