Configuring Outlook w/ Novell GroupWise

O

OHSU

We have an application that sends e-mail out via Outlook.
We have a PC set up with Outlook that connects to the
postbox on a Novell sever. However, as we are a Groupwise
shop, the users that need to access this mailbox must do
so through Groupwise. When messages get sent via Outlook,
they are stored in the Sent folder in Outlook and do not
appear in the Groupwise Sent Items folder on the server.
Is there a way to reconfigure Outlook so that it will
send/keep a copy of any sent items on the server?

Thank you for your help!

What version of GroupWise and Outlook? If it's GroupWise 5.5 and Outlook 98
or 2000, you could try the GroupWise plugin for Outlook
(http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/2957005.htm).

Otherwise, you'd need to set up Outlook to connect to the GroupWise post
office as an IMAP client. This would also need to be enabled on the Novell
server hosting GWIA (GroupWise Internet Agent).

Additionally, you'll need to set up Outlook to use the subscribed Sent Items
folder rather than the local folder in the PST file as explained here:
http://www.slipstick.com/mail1/olinet.htm#imap

Out of curiosity, how is this application sending mail via Outlook? If it's
doing something simple such as using the MAILTO: protocol, you can set up
GroupWise to intercept those actions.

Thank you for your reply! We're using Outlook 2002 SR-1
and some people are using Groupwise 5, 5.5, or 6.

The application is a 3rd party client app that I believe
was built in FoxPro. It requires a MAPI compliant e-mail
app (basically it was built to use w/ Outlook), which is
why we're not sending the messages out via Groupwise.

I really appreciate your help. I will check out the
plugin and the article you suggested.
