configuring e-mail accounts

Followed all instructions to configure Outlook to use Verizon e-mail account
(using POP3 as directed. Sent test message and got return message: "Unable
to send test message. Please verify E-mail address."
Happens all the time I try to reconfigure, yet I can send and receive
e-mail with that address from Office Outlook account, and from my home
Verizon account. Do I need to use an option other than POP3?

I am using a local ISP and connect to Internet using 56k dial up modem. I
have had exactly the same problem. I can send and receive emails fine, but
the send test email message always fails.

If you find answer, please let me know!
