Configuring BCM to use an SQL database

G

Guest

I've used the new BCM DB Tool to create a BCM database on a server that has a
full SQL Server instance. My workstation connects to this database fine,
using the following connection string:

SERVERNAME\MSSQLSERVER,1433

However - when I install BCM on the server itself, after the fact, and try
to use the same exact connection string... (using the "Select an existing
Database" option) it doesn't work. It times out and says "Cannot access the
database server on computer SERVERNAME. For more information, click Help."

I'm at a loss. I've even stopped the MSSMALLBIZ instance of SQL Express that
BCM installs itself, just in case it was conflicting with it somehow.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try or do? I'm really at a loss,
and I need to get BCM going on that computer.

ksurvell:

Create an instance on your full SQL named MSSMALLBIZ and BCM should work
just fine. Then attach your existing BCM db to that instance.

Lon

I will try that, although wasn't the default instance name for SQL Express
that comes with BCM "MSSMLBIZ," not "MSSMALLBIZ?"

Just checking... re-installing SQL server (which is what I have to do to
change the instance name) takes a looooong time, and I want to make sure I've
got the right instance name.

OOPS! My bad -- Yes, it is MSSMLBIZ...

Thanks,

Thanks! That was it. Re-installing the SQL Server Instance with the name
"MSSMLBIZ" worked.

Thank you!!
