Config,sys

When I try to load my Quicken application to my new
computer with Win XP I get the msg: "Config.sys file
needs updating. Quicken needs at least Files=50 and
Buffers=10. You have Files=0 and Buffers=0...." When I
run "msconfig" I cannot find anywhere that shows Files=0
or Buffers=0. Any way around this rqmt that will permit
the app to load? Thanks

How old is the Quicken? Try to run it in an appropriate compatibility mode
(Quicken.exe file Properties/Compatibility).

It is Version 5 (about 1995). Tried all compatibility
options (Thanks for the suggestion. ), but no luck. I
take it there is no config.sys file & buffer place to
make the settings to satisfy the error msg (???).
Thanks again for your help.

Edit %systemroot%\system32\config.nt.
Strange, I got Quicken 4 for Windows and it runs without a glitch. Test
Quicken on another computer. If it works, reinstall Quicken or XP or both
:blush:)
