CONFIG FAILED

RUNNING WIN 2000 SP4 ON AMD ATHLON 650 256 MEM DUAL BOOT
WITH WIN 98SE. WHEN BOOTING TO WIN 2000 I AM
GETTING "CONFIG INITILIZATION FAILED" AT STARTUP. WILL AT
TIMES STARTUP ON SECOND TRY. IF NOT THEN I GET "IRQL NOT
LESS RO EQUAL", "KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED", "PFN LIST
CORRUPT" . . . . AFTER MANY REBOOTS THE SYSTEM CHECKS ITS
SELF, NO PROBLEM FOUND AND BOOTS UP. MAY STARTUP OK NEXT
SEVERAL TIMES, THEN REPEATS ITS SELF.

ANY HELP OR ADVISE ?

Hi Larry,

On the internet typing with all caps is like screaming, almost everyone takes it that way. I'm
sure you didn't know or you wouldn't have done it.

You might try this.

Edit the BIOS and change the boot order to CD first.

Reboot with the Windows 2000 installation disk in the CD tray.

When you get a startup choose Install and when prompted choose "Repair"

When through go back and reset the boot order the way that it was.
