Conditional forwarding on Win2k DNS

Paul

I'm wanting to set up a conditional forwarder on my Win2k
DNS server, but when I go to the forwarder tab, it has a
messaging saying: "conditional forwarding is not
available because this server is a downlevel server" and
I can't add a domain.
I can't find any explanation as to what this means, and
if there is a way I can resolve it.
Does anyone else know?

Thanks.

Yes, Win2000 does NOT support conditional forwarding, only "all or nothing".

Win2003 DNS does support conditional forwarding.

Perhaps you can forward to a Win2003, and let it make the decision.

It means that you are using a Microsoft Windows NT 2003 management tool to
talk to a Microsoft Windows NT 2000 DNS server. The tool provides user
interface controls for functions that the server simply does not have.
