Conditional Formatting Question

Rebecca

Greetings!

I am using Windows 7 and Excel 2007.

In Column A I have numerous cells which contain a certain special "word":
let's say the special word is QXT. (The cells contain other words, of course.)

I selected the column, click on Conditional Formatting / Highlight Cell
Rules / Text that Contains ...

Then I typed in the "Format cells that contain the text:" QXT

with "Light Red Fill with Dark Red Text" then I clicked OK.

Now I would like to delete ONLY all the cells which are now Conditionally
Formatted (with the red fill and dark red text). How do I do this? I am still
a newbie, so could you please explain in easy, step-by-step English? Thank
you.

I think you will have to use an autofilter on just that column to show the
cells that contain "QXT" in that column.

Select those cells and "Delete"

Try this in your duplicate copy.

Place the cursor in Header Row (i.e. row 1) and press Alt+D+F+F which will
apply the filter for your data and now select the column which is formatted
as Red Text colour using Conditional Formatting. Press the drop down and
select Filter by Colour. In filter by colour drop down you can see the
colours which are all applied in the present column text. Select the Dark
Red Text colour and press ok. Now it will show only the data which is
formatted as Dark Red Colour Text.

Remember to Click Yes, if this post helps!

Cool.

I'm still getting used to 2007 and forgot about the "Filter by Color"
