Conditional Formatting Based of Cells Based on Data Entry in anoth

I would like to type in data in one cell that would change the cell color of
other cells that match the data in the 1st cell. I.e. Typing XXX in Cell A1
would highlight all cells with XXX in them. Is that possible in Excel 2003?

Hi,

Select all the cells which you want to format his way. Suppose cell A1
contains the value you want to control the formatting.

Choose Format, Conditional Formatting, and from the second drop down pick
equal to, in the third box type =$A$1
Click the Format button and pick a color on the Patterns tab, click OK twice

If this helps, please click the Yes button
