Hello. I recently purchased a laptop that is using WinXP SP2 Professional
with Synmatec Anti-virus. I have both set up for automatic updates.
However, before purchasing the new laptop I had an older laptop that had
Windows 2000 Professional with ZoneAlarm for my firewall and no anti-virus
software. I know I know, not having an anti-virus was dumb. One last piece
of information is that my ZoneAlarm subscription ends in about one month but
I'm not using it since the purchase of my new laptop because I was informed
that XP Professional SP2 has a built-in firewall.
Well, I received an email from ZoneAlarm introducing a new product called
Anonymizer 2004 which claims to keep my internet experience private. In
short, my IP address will be hidden/secure, etc. 1) With that said, does my
combination of Windows XP SP2 Professional and/or Symantec Anti-virus keep my
IP address hidden/secure? 2) Should I install ZoneAlarm on my new laptop in
combination with XP SP2 Professional and Symantec Anti-virus or will there be
a compatibility problem? Please explain this to me (a not so savvy computer
user). Thank you in advance. Rochelle.
