Computers didn't receive the GPO update on reboot

Hi all,

I'm managing a w2k domain with DC under w2k server and workstations under w2k.
I've an UO where GPO are applied to computers which is running fine since
few months.
Last week I added a new GPO to that UO which execute a script on startup.
I've checked the rigths to that GPO and they are fine "Authenticated users"
have rights to read and apply the GPO.

My problem is that when rebooting the computers didn't see that a new GPO
should be applied to them. It works only if I make a "secedit" in the
computers or if I create a new UO and put into the computers.

to resume, the modifications I've made in the GPO of an existing UO are not
propagated to the computers automatically.

Any ideas to fix that?

thanks in adavance,

Does the startup script reside within the GUID of the GPO (OU =
Organizational Unit)?

Go to the gpo (I'm doing this from 2003, if not the same it is close),
select Computer Configuration, Windows Settings, Scripts, Startup Script.
Click the Show Files button. It should display what files are available to
this gpo.

Hi Paul,

Of course yes I can see the files when clicking on "Show files" after having
selected the startup script properties of my GPO. What is crazy is that:
- if a put my scripts into a new OU then create the GPO then move the
computers into, it works fine on next reboot.

I've read that GPO for computers are updated every 90minutes on computers
normally, but in my organization it seems that this is not true.
As already said I may be obliged to use "secedit" or to move my computers
into a new OU in order to have my new startup script working.. arhhh
How can I force the GPO update to all computers from my DC? Should I make a
script or is there something already done for that purpose?

Any tips to solve this problem?

thanks,
Frédéric

You can't force all remotely. The reason I asked if you could see the
script is a lot of people don't place the scripts there and then have
problems.

You will have to wait, reboot or script it.

Just have users reboot before they go home.
