After installing a new program, xp restarted and boots to the Windows boot
menu only (safe mode etc). Win 2000 I know you could use scanreg to go back
to an old reg file. Can you do that in XP some how. We already tried to use
the "restore last known configuration" option.

Any ideas?

Terry,

I presume it's counting down and then lets you boot normally. If that's the
case, boot up, then:

Start->Run->msconfig->BOOT.INI tab->Change the Timeout to 0

That will tell XP not to offer the options, just boot to the default option.

Actually it will not boot at all. If I select any option it restarts. and
goes back to the boot menu. In adition, when I put my Sony system restore
disk in, it will not boot to the cd. I get an error that says "cannot find
ntldr". I think I am in deep trouble here.
