I purchased (over a year ago) XP Home upgrade for my daughter's computer.
Now that computer has died. Am I allowed to re-install on another computer,
will it let me re-active it once installed?

Yes!

Hi

If the XP CD is an OEM version, then no. It is tied to the first PC it is
installed onto. If the XP CD is a Retail one, you will have to 'phone
Microsoft when activating and explain to them what has happened.

Retail versions of Windows XP are licensed to the purchaser and may be
moved from computer to computer to computer as the owner sees fit,
provided that it is never installed on more than one computer at any
time.

This is different from the situation with OEM versions of Windows XP
that come preinstalled on new computers. With these versions the
license is permanently locked to the computer and cannot be moved to
another computer under any circumstances.

You should have no problems with activating your Windows Upgrade
version on another computer, especially if it is more than 120 days
since it was last activated on the old computer. And if you do have a
problem with the automatic online activation then just us the
telephone activation.

Good luck
