here's the problem- taken from a post I made last night...

HI there..... having several problems. I've had a popup lately,
Here are the responses I've gotten:

If you can boot to Safe Mode, then -

I'm able to start in safe mode, but I can't run AVG - I get an error message:

Driver{CORE} not found winerr=2

I was then told this:

run msconfig goto startup and untick everything, then reboot and try normal

Unfortunately, it's not working. Although, I was able to get in to the computer and NOT be in safe mode for about 10 minutes before everything froze up and I had to reboot. Then the problem started all over again. I'm not able to run AVG at all.

Any other suggestions... or is this the end of my computer?

Hmm..

If you get a freeze in Safe Mode,
that sounds like hardware issues,

You can do a RAM test with MemTest86 on a boot floppy,

You can do a hard disk test by downloading the diagnostic from the maker's
web site.

I would also suggest a physical check -
take the PC apart, clean the CPU fan of dust, and check all plugs and
cables - carefully put it all back together.
