Hello,

My computer unexpectedly shuts down from time to time but when I turn it

Hi,

Unexpected shutdowns are due to heat problems. Most modern motherboards will
initiate a shutdown to protect the system in the event an overheating
condition exists to protect the components. Check fan operation and make
sure all vents are clear and not clogged by debris. Air around the drive
tower should be unrestricted in movement (don't stick it in a cabinet).

Such occurrences are most commonly hardware problems, not software
ones.

I'd suspect:

1. overheating

2. flaky power, usually from the power supply, but sometimes at the
wall outlet.

3. Bad RAM.
