Within last week, computer "hanging" up (and making a low volume, high
pitched rapid beeping sound) during starting Windows XP. I hit a key on the
keyboard and the startup continues to completion. Looked at Disk Management
and the FAT partition and NTFS partition show as "healthy". Run virus
updates daily and inspect system weekly; use firewall; run WinDoctor, Fast &
Safe Cleanup and Lavasoft's Adaware 6.0 daily before shutting system down
each night. Complete system check reveals no virus infection. My computer
is a Dimension XPS desktop, P4 3.2GHz(Intel 875P chip set), 120 GB HD, 2.0GB
RAM, 800 front-side bus processor, Hyper-Threading technology. What is the
next step please? Main concern is whether the hard-drive is failing.
System is 3 months old. Next concern is if HD okay, what to do to alleviate
the problem (annoyance).

Solved Problem:

This is a hardware problem--though not the HD. It is a stuck key on the
wireless keyboard. The keyboard is to be replaced. When another keyboard
was attached, there was no problem starting up the computer.
