Computer slow..............

Hi.
i know this is not probably a right group to ask this question.. but i
don't know where else to ask so.. pardon me....

the problem is my computer is very slow when i try to run multiple
programs..
for eg
say when my NAV runs.. everything else becomes slow..

when i am using my dvd burner.... everything else is very slow.. i can't
open other programs...
when i am downloading something..... same problem....

i have an AMD athalon 2200+ processor and 512 DDR memory..

can increasing memory help it?

Hi

Have you checked pc for spyware:-

Spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Adaware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Try pressing ctrl+alt+del, choose task manager (best to do when no progs
open) and click on processes. Click on the cpu heading so it sorts the
column with the highest process at the top. It should be system idle, if not
let us know what is using up your system.

Putting more memory in always helps. Has it had a memory upgrade recently
and was the ' page file ' increased manually ?
