Computer shutting down with no warning

My computer shuts down without any warning. The timing of this shutdown is
not the same. It has just recently happened. I am also unable to load any
of my downloads that I have tried to get rid of this virus or worm.
Two questions:
Are there any commands that I can run from the start/run menu that will
prevent my computer from shutting down? Or from the task manager?
How do I know with what worm or virus that my computer is effected so I can
download the appropriate patch to get rid of it.
Please advise as this has caused me and my family a lot of problems. School
work, email, ext.. I would appreciate some help a lot!

mattcampbellgolf, just would like to mirror to you, I have the same exact
problem you have. Posted this problem sometime back(1/12/05). check out the
response from "Malke". He says its all on the hardware part. But I haven't
proceeded just yet as advised. Its good to hear from others out there for
some other definitive opinion that says otherwise to our problem. The
answers are out there....
