The Dell 4600 computer I have is new and is only about 11
months old. It has a P4 with a new Bios and a new mother
board. The problem with it is that when i press stnadby
it just shuts down. It trys to go to standby but it just
shuts down. Now the dell people said just ask microsoft
and microsoft says that this is an oem and that means i
need to ask dell and not them. Now i am annoyed and the
computer is in ruins. The other prob. this comp. has is
its ethernet also doesn't work. So please tell me any
other option other than replacing the computer! Becasue
then i get a refurbished model.

Thank you

Try this,
Click start , control panel , power options , advance tab , look down to
power buttons and click the dropdown arrow and be sure it says shut down for
power button and standby for standby button.
Hope this helps

Hey ... I wouldn't replace the unit just because it
wouldn't go into standby ... Have you look at the setting
for standby ??? Whether if its set at never ??? do this
go to start >>> control panel >>> double click power
options and see what the standby is set at ....

What exactly is the problem when you say the ethernet doesn't work.
What happens or doesn't happen, any error messages, etc. Be specific.
