computer shuts down

when i play a game my computer begins to overheat and
runs loudly then shuts off after a few minutes

Check to see if you CPU fan is running. How do you know it overheats do you
have a temperature sensor?
If your CPU fan is working check to see if you have any bad memory modules.
Do you hear any clicking sounds which could be a bad hard drive?

Also could be a dead fan on the video card itself; I've been seeing a lot
of those lately.
