Computer Shutdown Automatically

Not sure if this is an XP thing, but i came home today to find my computer
OFF.

the only strange thing i noticed out of the ordinary was that the "Num Lock"
green light on my keyboard was still ON, even though the computer was off.
the keyboard light is never on when the computer is off, ordinarily.

Does anyone know if the keyboard light being on signifies anything?

I DO have a UPS, but all my clocks were still working, so there didn't seem
to be a power failure. Additionally, when i started up, windows did not
automaticaly run Scandisk or anything (so it may have shutdown properly).

nope, hibernation is disabled on my machine. also, when booted up, none of
my programs i left open were up.
