Computer Recovery - Can't Fix Windows XP Home

I have no clue where to post this problem. but it's a very serious one. The
story - Was playing a game, was lagging and someone suggested to clean up the
computer and defrag. So I uninstalled useless programs, restarted computer,
started disk cleanup, then started defragment. It was around 2 or 3 hours and
my defragment was at 12% so i turned it off and throught of doing it at
night. Restarted my computer because I was mad at the game still lagging and
well my computer never STARTED UP again!

I have looked through my websites and nothing is working. I am sorry that
this post will be long becasue I wrote down some LONG error messages.

Problem - Computer starts up then it gives this error message and these
options:
"We apoliogize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not successfully start
successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.
If your computer stopped responding, restarted unecpectantly, or was
atomatilly shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known
Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.
If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a pwer failer or
because the Power or Reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what
caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Comand Prompt
Last KNown Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Start Windows Normally."

If I choose one of them, I get the Windows XP Home Edition Logo and the
proccess starting bar and its just starting to fade in, then my computer
restarts. (For any of the options)

I tried useing the Windows XP Home Edition CD to do recovery but I get no
options for selecting anything except changing the default keyboard settings
or layout. I also tried entering bootcfg then bootcfg /rebuild and got this
"C:\>bootcfg /rebuild
Scanning all disks for Windows installations.
Please wait, since this may take a while.
Error: Failed to successfuly scan disks for Windows instalations.
This error may be caused by a corrupt file system, which would prevent
Bootcfg from successflly scanning.
Use chkdsk to detect any disk errors."

I typed in chkdsk and got this"
"C:\>chkdsk
The volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems."

I also went into installtion to resinstall windows and they were scanning
for earlier windows and they said they detected NONE.

How can this be? I was using Windows XP Home Edition a min before I restarted.

Does anyone have any solutions to this PLEASE? I really need the help I can
get!
I truthfully don't want to lose any files I have on thsi computer! I have a
lot of important files, and I never backed any of them up except set recovery
points.

I have website files that I was corrently working on, and stuff for school
etc.

If anyone has a solution to this problem, I would be gratefull!

David;
How did you "turned it off"?
Did you stop Disk Defragmenter before shutting down?
If you did not use a proper shutdown sequence such as Start/Turn off
computer, you may have caused data loss as data was being moved by the
defragmenter tool.

I have actually stopped the defragment normally and shut down windows by
using the start menu.
I have tried this website and the things on there do not work.....(from the
link you provided)

In my post I mentioned I can't log into windows XP because it wont load
up...the logo and the loading bar start to fade in then the computer restarts.

David;
The Repair Installation is the fix.
Go back and look carefully to make sure you are following the directions
correctly.

There can be problems if you are using OEM depending on the OEM media.

If retail, it will work unless Windows is so badly damaged a Clean Install
is required.
But if that is the case, I would suspect a hard drive problem so go to the
hard drive manufacturers website and get their hard drive diagnostics.
