I have windows XP Pro and have installed a 3rd part app, Mavis Beacon Teaches
Typing v16. Every time I start the program the computer reboots itself. All
other applications work just fine.

Any help will be appreciated

Hi NealJH,
One of Two, uninstall the Software if you don't have enough Disk Space on
your HD. Secondley if you have enough Space try to contact the Mavis Beacon
Company and tell them about the Problem or go to their website help and
support forum if they have1.
Hope this Helps

I tried to contact the company, but there is no longer and phone or email
support on this product. I checked the web and did google searches and did
not find anything. I did remove and reinstalled the app and I found that
under the admin local profile i can run the program without any issues, but
when i log back on as the basic user the program restarts the computer when
you double click the icon. This is a server 2003 domain with XP clients
w\80gig hd's formated NTFS.

Hi Neal,
Did you check the Basic user Rights to access or run/Install Software on the
server.
Good luck

Obviously an error in the s/w, but what error ?

You have to set Xp to NOT reboot automatically on errors.

Right-click 'My Computer', properties - 'Advanced' tab, click 'Startup
and Recovery' 'Settings' button. Un-check 'Automatically Reboot'.

At least now you will be able to see the error message.

Go to the manufacturer of the software and see if there is an updated
version or even a patch to fix the problem. They are most likely aware of
the fault if it is caused by installing on XP. You might find its not
installing XP thats the problem but another program you have running which
is causing the conflict. If you go to the manufacturers web site and cant
find any info about a crash disable all startup programs from XP and reboot
and try running the program.

Check out the event viewer for any other clues bout the reboot. However, as
the program seems to cause the crash you will you will probably find that if
the company are no longer in business you will have to find a newer program
that is compatible with XP.

How to troubleshoot by using the System Configuration utility in Windows XP

i did and there is no assistance for the version that we are using. We have
this application install on multiple workstation within the Workforce and
they are working except for one of them. I am not able to get phone numbers
or email address for support.

thanks
