Computer problem

Dan

Hello,
I have a problem wich Im not sure is related to XP, but Ill post them
here to see if anybody can help me or point me in the right direction.
The problem was the following
I have a AMD Athlon 3200+ computer, with 1024 RAM, a SATA Raptor HD,
and its running Microsoft Win XP Pro SP2, uptated.

Sometimes, while using the computer, and after no apparent action or
reason the computer freezes completly. The monitor stays on displaying
whetever was on at freeze time, and the computer does not respond to
any actions. The keybord lights dont turn on or off, the mouse doesnt
move, and it doesnt respond to Ctrl+Alt+Del. The only way to get it
back on is by removing power. I have checked the event viewer and found
nothing unusual that happened before the freeze.

A couple of days later, when I turned the computer on yesterday, the
screen with the XP symbol and the progress bar stayed on for about 6
minutes, the usual is about 1 so I got worried, turned of the machine
and restarted in safe mode.
When its loading drivers it says "press ESC to cancel loading og
d347bus.sys" No matter if I press it or not, the OS wont load.

I tried to put the XP CD, rebooted and tried the
Recovery Console. After choosing that option, it says Examining 35320
MB at disk 0 and it doesnt move from there.

I apparently had a big problem so I formatted everything, updated all
the drivers including the BIOS and the computer worked fine for 1
night. THe next day, I found out the the power source wasnt sounding
right so I got it changed for a new one. Right after that, I started
the computer, which until last night was fine(It ran the HotCPU tests
for 6 hours, with succesfull results) and again it stayed in the black
screen with the logo and progress bar a long time, until it restarted.
To install XP, I used a diferent source CD just to make sure mine wasnt
corrupted.

I now think that its a hardware problem but I have no idea on how to
point the problem or reproduce it.

Any help is greatly appreciated,
-Dan

Your not the only one that it freezes up on. I thought it was just me. I've
tried everything and it just seems to get worse not better. No one else in
the house has this problem just me. Think it could be our disks that we
started with? Maybe I need to try running my husbands disk. If you figure
it out let me know cause this is nuts.
