Computer migration fails -"the rpc server is unavailable"

Hi all!

I am using ADMT to migrate computer accounts from my NT 4
domain to w2k AD. When I run the tool to migrate a
computer, however, it fails with a log error of "the rpc
server is unavailable". These are XP pro machines.

I truly and gratefully appreciate any help you can give
me! Thank you!

What's your name-resolution setup (i.e. WINS/DNS).

See the following article and make sure everything is setup correctly. The
XP machines have to be up and running in order for the agent to contact it
and migrate.

Both WINS and DNS are enabled on both server and
workstation.

Being enabled is one thing, but being set to the correct addresses for your
network is another. This is almost certainly related to WINS or, more
likely, DNS. Without knowing anything about your setup, though, it's
difficult to suggest anything.

Do the following commands succeed from the ADMT machine?

NET VIEW \\<machine>

NET USE \\<machine>\admin$

Please also provide a snippet from the log which includes the error.
