Computer Lockup - Can't Even Ctrl+Alt+Del

We have couple computers having problem that after users leaving for lunch
when they come back only the XP logo floating on the screen, Ctrl+Alt+Del
doesn't bring up the login screen. We have to power off and on the
computers to bring them back. Event Viewer looks clean, nothing unusual.
Do you guys have this kind of problem? It started about a week ago to
around 10 computers. Look like a bad windows update?
Thanks

USB keyboard and mouse? Perhaps power management shut off the USB hubs.
Open Device Manager, Universal Serial Bus section and go through the
properties of all the Root Hubs and on the Power Management tab
"UNcheck" the box for "Allow computer to turn off............."
