Computer locks up

I've just installed the SW for my DSL account. After a while, the computer
locks up. After a little investigating, it appears that svchost.exe (user -
SYSTEM) consumes 99% processor utilization. There are 2 instances of this
program, one with 36Mb memory utilization and one with 3.8Mb. Both are user
- system.
I have spyware and McAfee antivirus running, using MS IExplorer.

I have to reboot. Annoying!
