computer locks itself constantly

After 60 seconds of idle time the computer locks itself. This is not
due to a screensaver password, as I have the screensaver password
disabled. This is also not due to any power saving options as the
computer never goes into standby (therefore it won't prompt for a
password after coming off of standby because it never goes into
standby mode to begin with).

From what I understand, no changes were made to this computer prior to
this happening. So it's safe to say that the computer decided to lock
itself on it's own account after idling for one whole minute. I've
read through all the options in gpedit.msc to see if a group policy
had been changed or modified but nothing I change seems to have any
effect on the problem at hand.

After reading through several posts, I see that there are other users
out there who are having the same problem I'm having. Each time
someone tried to respond with some help, they said it was due to
either a screensaver password or the powersaving option that prompts
for a password when the computer comes off of standby. I'm just
letting you know ahead of time that it's neither or these.

My guess is this is some sort of virus and it wants the administrative
password to the computer. However, after searching symantec's website,
they have no record of any virus activity that locks a computer after
one minute. I'd really hate to reformat the computer just to get it to
stop this activity. Someone must have encountered this and beat it.

Well....the locking of the workstation is controlled by a function in
user32.dll
What I would do:
- Go to www.sysinternals.com
- Download Filemon (a utility which monitors all file access)
- Run the application
- Once the machine "locks itself", unlock it and examine the log. You may
be able to see which application (if any) is calling the lock function
....Let me know if this helps at all.
