Computer keeps timing out

After about 10 or 15 minutes away from computer (WINXP PRO) upon returning -
have to log back in again. This continuous timing out doesn't seem right.
Have reset the screen saver to 10min, 15min, even 30minutes but that doesn't
have any effect on stoping the time outs that in turn keep causing the re-log
in.
Appreciate any suggestion on how to keep the computer from the unwanted log
outs.
Thanks / Valerie

Hi Valerie,

Your computer may be set to go into Standby after a certain length of time,
and the resume from Standby is password protected. Open the Power Options
applet in Control Panel, and under the Power Schemes tab, see if there is an
amount of time specified in the System standby field. Then, click on the
Advanced tab and see if there is a checkmark beside "Prompt for password when
computer resumes from standby". You could either uncheck the checkbox beside
"Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby", or, if you don't
want the computer entering Standby, use the drop-down picklist to select
Never in the System standby field, then click on Apply then OK.

Regards,
