Computer hangs when going into standby

about 50% of the time when I try to go into standby mode on my computer, it "hangs". Does anyone know why it won't go into standby mode? Pls help.
 
Not all Device drivers and applications are written to support
"Standby Mode". In other words Windows is unable to put
the components or programs to sleep. Sometimes, vendors will
release new/updated drives & patches to address the problem.

The difficult part of resolving the issue is finding the problematic
device or program. If you run the Microsoft Management
console and expand Event viewer (Both System & Applications)

Have you checked the latest updates from Microsoft? A
few weeks back they had a fix for XP that solved that
problem for me.
