I'm running Windows XP Professional

My computer keeps hanging, there is no particular program
which makes it do it, it just stop, the cursor doesn't
move, and Ctrl Alt Del doesn't work. The only way I can
make it work is to press the reset button on the box. Is
there any way i can find out why this is happening, and
how to stop it?

I also recently did all the XP update (Critical and the
normal ones). i have a fairly large knowledge on how a
computer works, and am quite advanced with computer use.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me

Sounds like a hardware issue. Something might be over
heating. Make sure your Power Supply, CPU and if you have
one, Graphics Card fans are all spinning. =) Good luck!

All the fans are running, it cant be that anyway, i dont
think, i left my pc off for a day and a half and then
used it, and as soon as i logged in it freezed again.

I have been having the same problem. My eventual
solution was to change my graphics card, and now I have
no problems. Yhe old graphics card works in older
machines though. Hope that helps.

Good Luck

Do a RAM test then. I like Memtest86 from www.memtest86.com. Let it run
overnight. If the RAM is OK, then test the hard drive. If the hard
drive is OK, test the motherboard. If the m/b is OK, test the power
supply. Random freezing is usually hardware-related.

Tyrone,
I have the same problem.
Did you get it sorted out and if so HOW??

Suggestions:

You can use Event Viewer to view and manage the event logs, gather
information about hardware and software problems, and monitor Windows
security events.

To view the event log: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or
Start/Run/eventvwr.

To review Shutdown Event Tracker data, Open Event Viewer. Click System Log,
scroll to the Event column, and find entries with the number 1075.

And also:

Go to Start/Run/Msinfo32/Hardware Resources, Components/Problem Devices and
Software Environment/Windows Error Reporting.

Go to Help and Support/Pick a Task (left side)/Use Tools to view.../(left
pane)My Computer Information/(right pane)View the status of my system
hardware and software/Hardware/Update and Troubleshooters.

Try running the DirectX Tool: Start/Run/Dxdiag, Lower Hardware Acceleration
