Computer Freezing

Earlier I posted a query involving my computer freezing up
whenever I tried to do anything within windows. The
problem has now mushroomed, to the point where windows
will not load. Booting in safe mode, I have found that it
freezes during different points in the boot process, and
not necessarily at one specific spot.

Also, when I try to boot from the XP cd and repair my
windows installation, I cannot get to the repair screen.
My machine stops responding at various points prior to
this screen loading.

I have run out of ideas, and appreciate any ideas.

Hello!
are you trying to upgrade to XP from win98/ME?There may
be such problems during upgradation.Check hardwares for
compatibility.
Check system compatibility.Also choose clean install with
a fresh formatting.
