Computer Freezes When I double-click or single click

My Computer Freezes When I double-click or single click
on any file. The only way I can open my files is to
choose them from within the application. I tried to see
if they are associated with applications, but it even
freezes when I single-click on a file. anyone else
experienced this before?
 
Shonda, you can try System File Check. Start>Run type: sfc /scannow
Have the WinXP Cd in the cdrom drive.
If you don't have a CD then try a system restore.
