Computer freezes in Search after install of XP Pro SP2

After installing XP Pro SP2, whenever I go to Search my computer freezes. It
must be turned off to regain control. Any suggestions?
 
Will, Your suggestion did not help. I should point out that Search does
work in Safe Mode. However in Normal mode as soon as the intial Search
screen opens, the computer freezes.
