Computer freezes constantly

Every time we launch XP, it works fine for a few minutes,
and then all applications, including Start Menu, become
unresposive. Occasionally we get "application is not
responding" dialog, but that doesn't do anything, and
we're forced to hard-reboot. Seems to run fine in Safe
Mode. Just tried upgrading from XP Home to Pro, but
problem still exists. Have run McAfee anti-virus and
found nothing wrong. Have all the latest Windows
updates. This appears to have started after the last
Windows update, but don't know for sure. It's been
getting worse over the past 3 weeks, and is now
intolerable. Help?

Prob a bad driver. Check the device manager for problems. Update your video
driver and all the rest, but Video first.
