computer freeze up and shut down!!!

everytime I go to yahoo pool I play for several mins or an hour then I get booted off and cant get back on till like several minutes later same thing when I log into pogo..then I have to clean computer out with spybot and disk clean up then rboot so I can get back on or the computer shuts down by itself..I just wanted to know if anyone knows why this is happening? I have windows xp
 
When you visit Windows Update are you up-to-date
on all released critical/security patches ?
