computer dose'nt appear in network places

I'm working con a small LAN 4 machines utp ethernet. The LAN has allways
worked fine, but for some reason one of the computers shows none of its
shared folders o printers in network places. Before it decided to hide its
shares I had made a few shortcuts for programs that are on this computer and
they all work fine. If I go to network places and from thier too show
computers in the workgroup I can see the computer causing the problem, but
when I double click it a message saying I have got permision to access
appears.

Any ideas?

If the other machines have disabled 'simple file sharing', you will have to
be added to their Permissions for those folders.

Thanks for your effort Mark but thats not the problem

Thier are two computers with windows XP (both with simple file sharing) one
of them is the one causing the problem. The other two computers are windows
98 SE.
I can access the shares on the computer causing the problem because I had
made some shortcuts to folders prior to the problem. But I cant access any
shares from my network places.

There are several permissions issues that might be doing it. You may be
using a password on the guest account on one XP, etc. I suggest this site
for some of the possibilities.
