Computer Disk Hardware Configuration Problem

Windows XP MCE 2005 that runs on Professional OS
I messed up my computer and have tired everything I can find on the internet
to fix the problem and I'm stuck, I need help. I changed my boot.ini file and
now my computer wont boot from hard disk. This is how it reads:

timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(4)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(4)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft XP Media Center
Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn /sos

I need to change it back to:

I have the stock recovery disk from sony but it only brings back my system
to stock, out of the box configuration. This is not an opition because of
things that are needed to keep on the hard drive. I decided to make my own
boot disk and try to get my system back up that way but wont let me accept
microsofts terms by hitting the F8 key.
My question is how in the world can I change my boot.ini file? I don't have
a A:\ drive but I'll get one if needed. I've been stuck on this problem from
the time I got up, till I've gone to bed and this is (Day 5) Please help!

Down load a copy of Knoppix (http://www.knoppix.org/), boot your
machine from that and edit the boot.ini from within Knoppix.

Down load a copy of Knoppix (http://www.knoppix.org/), boot your
machine from that and edit the boot.ini from within Knoppix.

On the Knoppix desktop you will see one or more Hard Disks, double
click on the disk or disks depending on your setup and locate the
boot.ini file (on my playbox it is on hda1 in the root directory),
right click on the boot.ini file, go to "Open with" and select an
editor, say GVim Text Editor for example, edit the boot.ini file so it
reads what you want it to read, save the file, logout of Knoppix and
reboot into XP.

If the Knoppix method doesn't work there are two other things you could
try :-

Place your HDD in another PC as a slave drive or as a master on the
second IDE channel and edit the boot ini file on your drive with a text
editor.

or (and this will require a floppy drive)

Down load NTFS4DOS from www.datapol.de/dpe/freeware, make a bootable
floppy disk, install the NYFS4DOS installation progran and then create
the NTFS4DOS boot disk, create your new boot.ini file in a text editor,
copy to the boot disk, boot the machine from the floppy and copy the
new boot.ini into your c:\ or where ever your boot.ini resides if it is
on a different disk.

Ok I'm in that folder and but it says the document could not be saved, as it
was not possible to write to file:///media/sda2/boot.ini
So far I want to thank you for getting me this far but where is the seting
to allow me to save?
